Red Tile House is an early Edwardian home, the clients intention was to carry out some modern improvements to make the main living space function for their young family and their desire to entertain guests. The design increases the main living space by incorporating a timber and brick side extension to accommodate a garden dining room. The design intention was to highlight the original clay tiles to the east elevation by hiding the supporting timber frame for the glazed windows behind the original clay tiles. The glazing will allow uninterrupted views of the decorative clays tiles from inside the dining space and from the street view.
